At CulturalPulse, we are proud to be working with the Department of Home Affairs on a vital campaign to address an issue affecting many culturally and linguistically diverse communities across Australia—Protection Visa scams.
Far too often, vulnerable individuals are misled by unofficial advisers, unlawful agents and sometimes by family and friends trying to be helpful, into applying for the wrong type of visa. In particular, Protection Visas are being promoted as a quick solution, yet most of these applications are refused, putting individuals at risk of serious consequences. These include losing money, facing potential legal action, and even jeopardising their chance to remain in Australia.
We believe that everyone deserves access to clear, trusted, and culturally sensitive information when it comes to immigration advice. That’s why this campaign is activating a network of over 100 trusted Community Ambassadors, people who live within, understand, and support their communities every day. These Ambassadors will be posting content across their own social channels in multiple languages, raising awareness of visa scams and directing people to free, official support and legal advice funded by the Australian Government.
This work is part of our broader mission: to empower diverse communities with accurate information and help them navigate complex systems in a culturally relevant way. By partnering with government and grassroots leaders, we’re ensuring that the right messages are reaching the right people, before it’s too late.
